Thermal comparison of mono-facial and bi-facial photovoltaic cells considering the effect of TPT layer absorptivity

With the widespread utilization of solar photovoltaics (PV), it is becoming increasingly important to understand its performance using various configurations harvest energy at most suitable efficiency, specifically in hot climates. Therefore, this paper compares mono-facial and bi-facial PV cells under high-temperature desert climate Sharjah (United Arab Emirates). The optimally tilted vertical east-west were compared evaluate annual production for these scenarios. In addition, new parameter, effect rear side layer absorptivity cell, was investigated. comparative study considered radiation, ambient temperature, wind speed, albedo. results showed that considering achieves better predictions. However, did not exhibit a significant influence case with neglected backsheet absorptivity. As such, cell temperature increased by 0.4 °C 1.4 an albedo 0.2 0.7, actual value 0.2. On other hand, worth mentioning improper designs result considerable rises as increases. Under investigated conditions based on yearlong comparison, performed than bi-facial; from power gain ratio 7.18% 20.88% -19.4% 12.65%.
